does anyone know offhand what the flow rate for the E series in tank fuel pump? (EA-3.9)
long story short, i told a mechanic i wanted to replace the standard pump with a Bosch Motorsport 040 (in tank pump) for some future mods i had planned. his reply was that the standard pump will flow the same as the 040 (400+hp). is this true? lol.

even with zero load on the pump, it still wont flow enough for 400+hp

firstly, i think i should have posted this in "ECU & Fuel system forum". lol
i allmost laughed when he told me it would flow 400+hp, but i had a feeling he knew what he was talking about. ..20 gallons an hour sounds more realistic. i couldnt find any info online but i suspect the standard pump is bosch. i have an air/fuel ratio guage installed but id rather not chance it leaning out under load with the larger injectors.

I thoguth they were VDO/Simens units. But then again being an EA, there's a chance it's been replaced with an aftermarket different brand one by now. |

The 044 flows around 330 LPH...
The std pump is around 100 LPH... If you are drwing through std pump? You won't gain much more fuel supply.. maybe 15% more... A walbro 255 [under $200] intank is good for 300 kw ...Works well when used in conjunction with surge tank and 044 inline...

that sounds right, i mainly wanted to confirm the flow rate of the standard pump because at this stage im concidering using the intank pump as the primary like you said, running into the top of the surge tank and the 044 as the secondary. i figured there would be little pressure\load on the primary and taking into concideration the return lines.

The bosch 040 is not much better than the standard AU pump imo. I have an 040 which I tried and now I use it in my garage for injector cleaning only.The e series pump is ac delco from memory..

the pump in the catalog is an EP106AU and flows 144 LPH (2 bar) so if my maths are right it flows about 350hp wich isnt far off what the mechanic told me. your right the 040 wont make any noticable difference, it just wont lean out using large injectors. if thats the case then you should upgrade the fuel lines cos its rated at 700hp. I am running a walbro with bigger injectors mate. The bosch specs are very vague on their pumps. If you happen to find their spec sheet on the bosch website you will see that they are quoted at different pressures.This is confusing because we really have to know the flow at our intended pressures. thanks for the reply UL, i agree, just something simple like a basic flow curve would indeed be helpfull for each unit. i reckon its a bad marketing decision to release a rage of pumps without them. i had to rely on information based mainly from .au and the states about these pumps from people who have got the best performance (with reliability the main factor) but in saying that i had also considered using the walbro and in many cases the walbro are a better unit for most applications but i think the bosch motorsport range are underated and best suited for my application with the pressure ranges i will be using. anyway ive got the o44 now so im stuck with my decision, lol ) im only aming at 300kw for now, if i need more flow later on the last option is to just add more high flow pumps starting with a regulated primary. cheers

Fuel Pump flow(volume): Except XR6.......................240cc in 10secs at 275kPa XR6.................................280cc in 10sec at 300kPa cheers
