I have done a done a mpi conversion On a ea spak, did the pump work before replacing it. You could put the old cfi
pump back in too see if it primes?

I just went through a fuel pump drama and what i found was the four wires at the fuel pump are 2 for the fuel level which are thinner guage wires i think yellow and yellow/black and the other two which are larger guage wires, one will be an earth probably black and the other is 12v pos coming from fuel pump relay and a trick a mechanic showed me if the 12v pos is alive and the pump does not go bump the tank with your hand hard because sometimes the pumps get sticky,if you have to bump it then you need a new pump.

Yep, those are the wires, and the pump itself should be fine - it's brand new... Problem is I'm NOT getting 12v +, only earth, that's why I figured it would be caused somewhere else other than the pump |

****UPDATE****
Got the multimeter again and probed the 12v input to the pump relay - there is power Probed the 12v out line while turning the key on - no power. Jumpered the two lines together - pump runs!!! At least this means I don't need to remove the pump again in theory... My question is, do these cars have a unit in the pump module that shuts off the pump relay if the fuel is too low? As it would appear I have neglected to put fuel back in after changing the pump ****EDIT**** Guess not - put more fuel in and still no priming |

What if I somehow got the return and supply hoses mixed up? Would that cause it to prevent the pump starting? Kinda clutching at straws now, but running out of ideas

Mad2 wrote: if the pump is working when the wires are together - check wiring/relay .... and don't know re a*** about pipes?? Wiring and relay seem fine. Swapped relay for another one anyway and still the same problem. Tempted to pull the lines off and swap them over, but since I ran the pump manually they may be under pressure? And no way to depressurise without a running engine |

to check relay/wiring use ya multimeter on relay or even a light so when the relay is energised ya know
i can have a squizz at my tank setup tomorrow if ya want? thankfully its still hooked up |
