Wondering if anyone would have ever heard of an eb 4.0 making a funny nock nock nock noise when ideling on a slight lean?

Basically what it does is nocks when its ideling, crank shaft has no movement in it at all (car has only done 130,000k's) but has relativly low oil pressure. On the dash it comes up to about the second line (sports pak eb)

Has anyone had this or knows how to fix it?

Thanks

i find that with my car, as i live on a big muhfuga of a hill, and the driveways on a mega slant, i put it down to all oil falling to the back of the sump/head and parts just start knocking due to lack of oil, once you flatte out it goes away.

Okay It is the "Bendix spring" or return spring in the starter motor, replace the starter motor, mungrel job too, Im glad I paid someone else to do it.

Oh by the way Bocsh gas a reduction gear starter motor out now and it sounds cool an whips the motor over without putting much load on the motor, maybe permanant magnet motor.

hi
i have the same noise. and it did have low oil pressure
i have changed the oil to a higher viscosity i used penrite hpr 40 (25w/60w)
it still has a slight knock when the car is on a big lean
but oil pressure is much better..
i would say there is a problem with clearences on crank bearings or oil pump..
generaly oil pressure being low + knocking noise usually means that oil is
a)not getting to bearings
b)or oil is seeping past bearings because of excessive bearing clearence wich will give you low oil pressure.

No sorry altedxr6, my auto mechanic fitted the new starter motor.

In comparison to the original starter motor, even taking into account age of the original, the new one sounds as though it spins faster, it looks smaller than the original and I believe it is a permanant magnet motor but sorry no part number, I will try and contact my mechanic and see if he can get me details

isnt the slapping noise the end of the crank slapping in the oil in the sump?

Now let me see, will I pull the engine out and drop the sump to check for noise or, pull off the starter motor ????

Read the first post again.

i have read it. my car makes this noise too when in my slight incline driveway. What has this first post got to do with the starter motor. I had my starter motor recoed a few months ago and it didnt stop the nocking noise

Yes it is, when parked on an angle the crank counterweights hit the oil
