i had this problem with my ef fairmont after i put my ecu trim panel back on and it was the electric aerial shorting out as this fuse is used for the Body control module and that controls the Aerial, instrument illumination, power windows, wipers, demister, courtesy lights, and smart lock
Does the engine just crank over and you get no dash lights when the fuse blows?

What were the last things you change? Check the related wiring and work back from there.

Yeah, I know that you have to check and stuff. But i have started the car before just without the door trims and front seats then after putting them all back i try to start it but it wont kick over, i checked all the fuses and the only fse that was blown is the CRT LP and replaced it three times already. So you think i should just check what i've done......... gonna have to take the trims out now. Will let you know how i go.
Thanks.

The way I check for shorts is to isolate the circuits.1] remove RHkick panel and disconnect the plugs that are there. This will isolate the car wiring into front & rear .put in new fuse .it blows short in front 1/2 of car .doesn't blow reconnect plugs if it blows then short in rear of car.I have found shorts near the interior lamp and near the rh boot hinge. If you need more help just ask .Cheers Kevman

Do you have lights on the ghia door trims? since the CRT LP fuse is going, its likely to be interior light related. Check the wiring on the door trim lights to make sure it isnt shorting against the door or each other, etc.

Hey, I did what you said and thanks for this tip.
I disconnected the two big plugs in the RH Kick Panel and the fuse didn't blow...Connected them back up then fuse blows. What areas are associated with it? So i can check the places out. And which interior lamp are you talking about?? I really need help, Like i finish doing these mods then the problem appears i should be showing this off rite now but nooooo damn car has a curse or something.

Ok, I have disconnected all the door looms from the floor loom and connected the two big plugs back again and still the fuse blows. So its gotta be shorting some where on the floor loom...... but i cant see why this would happen now as i have started the car plenty of time before hand. Need some more ideas where it would be shorting, all help required here.

Ok we now know it is in the wiring going to the rear of the car.I f you didn't have a problem b4 fitting the door trims and you have courtesy lights in said trims then that would be the 1st place to look. The interior light is the 1 in your roof. The wiring 4 the lights goes from the fusebox to the connectors behind the kickpanel and then under the door sill trims to possibly each door and then follows the rear wheel arch under the seat and then through rear panel to the boot light and up to the roof lining and then to the light in your roof.Find which colour wire it is and follow it until you find the short.Sometimes I cut the wire to further isolate it as long as you can rejoin it later.I hope yu can follow this .Cheers Kevman :D

My courtesy lights all worked before. Its is after i screw all the trims and seats in that this happened. I have taken out all the door looms out so i can take the door loom out of the equation. Can someone give me a wiring diagram of the floor loom from a fairmont GHIA...PLEASE. I seriously don't know why this is happening.

Sounds like when you screw the trims on you are crimping a whire for the door lamps, hence the blown fuse. Seems to me the short is in you door lamps. Connect them and see if it blows, if it doesnt then it is in the wires from the lamps to wherever you joined them to the main loom.

Nah, Cant be anything to do with the door courtesy lights as i have unplugged all the door loom from the main loom and i still get a blown. And the looms a clear from the seat bolts so they not squishing the wires. And i have checked the whole floor loom and cant see any bare wires that might cause a problem. Man this really sucks..... Someone tell me what i could be doing wrong so i can check it out.... Pllllleeeeeaaaaassssseee.
