Hey guys i was wondering if it safe to put a thin layer of gasket glue on either side of the head gasket due to minor corostion around the head water ports
If it safe to do i really want to do it so i don't have to worry about water leaking out into pistons or oil thats all i need tommrow ill post a pic of the corostion u might know of a way to reinsure this problem dosen't happen Thx

Do you run corrosion inhibitor in your radiator?

Corrosion inhibitor where would i find that on my radiator? there was no electrical running off the the radiator just the 2 tran lines and top and bottem water hoses and the overflow hose
ok sorry for being so interested but what so bad about gaskit glue on head? and would i go to a aluminium shop to welded it and grind smooth? thx

Corrosion inhibitor is the green stuff! As long as its not the cheap stuff which can just be dye..

ok sorry for being so interested but what so bad about gaskit glue on head? and would i go to a aluminium shop to welded it and grind smooth? thx because it will stop the gasket from sealing properly. you would take it to an engine machine shop. by the way if you are changing the head gasketyou should already have taken the head to checked and surfaced befor even giving the slightest thought about putting the head back on. by the questions you're asking i think maybe this is not a job you should not be trying to do your self |

Ow the radiator coolent stuff the green stuff u put in with the water yer the motor had that intill i drained it to flush radiator but allways use it
the motor should be fine if i put the head back on and leave the problem shouldn't it this motor only got to run for about 6 months max ive got a spare motor im doing up right now getting it all machined and recondition Acl racing bearings, super seal gaskits, heavy duty lifters, Speedway cam, high lift valve springs, Reinforced push rods, aluminium rocker cover spacer, wolf 3D v4 ECU, T5 Transmition, heavy duty clutch, 9" diff, crank machined, high pressure sump, 550cc injectors, Home designed throttle body intake, Supercharger (undecided right now), Intercooler, few other things i can't think of right now head ported and new and larger valves (undecided how far) thinking 40thou bore with high compression piston rings some parts to be decided still

Well yeah, it should be right till ya get that! I got 7 weeks out of my second head after that cracked. Was going through a litre and a half of water in 35 minutes drive.

sorry to butt in i just noticed about the ACL hylomar spray on au gasket .i didnt use anything on mine is that going to be a problem its been in for 6-8 months.

ACL advise against using Holomar on any of there Monotorque head gaskets. It's in there Product Catalogue in some of the first pages were they have details on there hOlomar product and Monotorque headgaskets. Also a peice of paper came with my ACL Race Series Headgasket that said not to use anything on it.

I presume you used an aftermarket gasket then? Not a genuine Ford AU headgasket. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to apply some Holomar to a genuine Ford AU head gasket as they are those full metal ones. But you shouldn't have any issues if you didn't. |

Usually head gaskets have their own sealant on them already and most manufacturers recommend against using aftermarket sealants on head gaskets.

when i did my hg the paper that came with gasket said that if you use gasket goo of any kind on the acl you have to retorque the head bolts.
i won't bother as i'm replaceing the engine soon.
