The main thing would be that the Gates belt will outlast a stock (generic) belt. The thing with Gates belt is they don't show the normal wear that a Bosch or other standard belt will. Hate to see you're enginebays Have you seen my engine bay?? Obviously not. Why does a mild steel water pump pulley stay clean and free of corrosion on the running surface? Becase the belt slowly polishes it and wears the oxidised metal. FFS..

Im running a blue one in the ba xr, cost me $38 from supercheap from memory. Only thing is its not so blue now days even though its only done 3000kms, got black lines through it now. But still looks fairly good compared to a plain black one
