i own a ea with the four speed gearbox, and that well i have posted a similair query on the site but. when i start it in the morning or when not been drivin for a while it is smooth gets up to speed and that kind of s**t, BUt when driven around town shooping lapping driven what ever after a while it clunks in every gear and revs the C*** out of it before changeing gears been told about the s5 solenoid or something is rooted is this true or are my bands f**k OR will a service on the gearbox fix this (due for one in antoher 3500 kms)

I had the same issue in my au then all of a sudden i lost gears 2 3 4 only had 1 i grinded out ever cog and what not. which could have been saved if it was serviced lol

Id try servicing the box first dude

oil in gearbox full nice red colour no brown discolouration at all and yeah so i might service it on tuesday and see what happens

i just had the same problem and it was a pressure problem in the box lost 2nd and 4th gear had the s5 sollinoid replaced about a month before and was really good then started clunking in all gears then lost the gears so new box went in

i do loose any gears it changes up from first to fourth fine but it clunks in the changes like for example going round the corner it downshifts find goes back to 2nd i slowly accerate and it shifts to 3rd and revs and then clunks and grabs 3rd?

i might take it to an transmisson place and ask questions
