can you specify a size, gearbox man or auto, stock diff? all three play a part in petrol guzzling, you have a fine line with trade offs -power you make-to fuel used-and the old favourite-lead foot

Added a stage 2 Crow cam - Fuel consumption went from 11 litres per 100km to 13.
Though you have to account for the fact that the more power you get, the faster you tend to drive. Or perhaps the more power, the more frequently you'll drive faster.

Going from stock engine to big cam and ported head I went from getting 550k's out of a tank to 450.

550kms to a tank with wade1004-14, paceys, 2.5" and 3.7 gears, in an auto.

650kms to a tank on the open road.

I average around 10.8L to 100kms.

since this is a general cam question...though a bit off topic to fiftyone's question...which brand cams are better?... I was thinking Crow Cams but they are a bit dear compared to RPDs and I'm juggling between RPD's package or the more expensive non-packaged Crow Cam with Vernier gear and XR6 spec springs.

Total prive for the Crow Cam things is 660 that is with a mild cam running on standard ECU, Vernier gear and XR6 spec valve springs.

Well RPD's package is $530 outright which is much cheaper. But not sure which one to go for...a regrind or a brand new one.

would it make much of a difference with shims? I mean I prefer a non-regrind but the price tag on the RPD package is more attractive then the Crow.

true...I spoke to my mechanic and he said to go with crow cause its basically like plug and play. So I might just pay that extra $50 for cam and vernier gear without the springs...supposedly I don't need them as of yet.
