I was told a while back, people over in WA were "zip tying" there throttle bodies on their EL's Au's open so they could get constant air flow. I have noticed lately on my Falcon that going from 1st to 2nd it lags a heaps. Is this mod possible or is it better to adjust the idler screw. Or is there another way? Thanks

they may be referring to the BBM butterflies.

although i dare you to do it with the throttle body.
just ensure you video it for the rest of us to laugh at

that would definately be a bad thing, they are talking about the broadband manifold butterfly runners. these switch between long and short runners at 3800 rpm, long runners for under that rpm, short runners for above. the long runners give better low down torque, and the short better top end response and HP. By zip tying the runner to be on short all the time, it eliminates the flat spot at the changeover point at the cost of a few NM of torque down low.

feeling laggy from the change to 2nd from 1st could just be the s**t 3.08 diff ratio au's have. the 3.89s in my au2 have really perked up the gear changes.

zip tying the trottle to open will do exactly the same as zip tying the accelrator to the floor.

zip tying the runners open will loose you bottom end torque, but will eliminate the flat spot in mid range where they swap over. unless you are trying to shave .01 off your 1/4 mile time on a hectick car, then this would be, for all intents and purposes pretty useless.

pm fast xr... he ran his ef xr with the butterflies all but useless as he holled out the top half of the BBM loosing the long runner/short runner differences.. -was a dog to drive down low.. and all for a fraction of power up top... was not worth it and went back to stock...

what are the runners? Could you take a photo of one and post it up. And how to do this mod
