G'day, ive finally hidden all my wiring and smoothed my strut towers, however the time has come to get rid of the reservoir... Does anyone know the best way to go about it. Should i build a custom one, can i block off the hose on the side of the reservoir? Is there an alternative place for the radiator cap? Any ideas? Also, how do i wire the coolant level sensor so it doesnt beep at me anymore?

Not much i can think of, you can try a polished up PWR expansion tank http://www.awcinfo.com/secureshop/categ ... cat_id=440 Or a Morosso type tank, aftermarket, but could be hidden quite well. I'll try and track down a photo mate. |

expansion tank or catch tank.....that way you can polish or paint it to suit your engine bay.....some actually don't look too bad....

Mate, check oout BPT whho are a site sponser, or PWR or AWC (who sell PWR's ones), they all make aluminium replacement boottles. And iff yyou require one with the coolant sensor, which neither BPT or PWR have listed, PWR will make them to suit, I think the new part number is 5659, but not sure...
Anyways I think they look pretty cool and tidy, just a squarish polished alumium box really. |

Actually, while were on this topic, do the AWC PWR expansion tanks for EL i6's bolt straight in? I've ordered both the tank and the cap, its a shame i can't use my water sensor in it..

You can't just get rid of the reservoir. It needs to be there to raise the water level to above that of the head. This ensures there is no air pockets inside the head's water jacket. If you want to dress it up, paint it, buy a new one, or go for one of the aftermarket ones. As for the sensor, chances are the float has a crack in it and is full of water. It needs to be replaced. New floats are around $20 if you can find one. Or the float and sensor together are around $65

Speak to Luke at PWR, he faxed mee the new desiggn off a unit with the sensor in yesterday and is about to add it to the list. Turns out that PWR didn't realise that so many E-Series came out with the sensor from factory.
By the way I found dealing direct with PWR to be cheaper than AWC... And yes they do bolt straihgt in. |

Yesterday we finalised the drawings of it, and as soon as I pay they'll make iit up for me, and he was asking how many of the E-series had the sensors and I told him, all the high series (fairmonts, fairlanes, ltds), and I think the XR's (minee being a GLi originally didn't), and he said iif there that common they'll add it too there list. |

Have you got pics of the bay mate?
Those PWR ones are quite expensive, but if you're dressing up the engine bay they look mint. |
