And whoever cut the muffler off should have left more pipe so that it can be used later...

In the other thread i said it was heaps louder and the standard 2 muffler redback exhaust isn't much louder than stock. It now sounds awesome just turning the key and hearing the first exhaust note....................... I spent months thinking i had blown $300 on a system that didn't sound much better than stock. I ended up shelling out the bucks and i am very happy with the result. The exhaust note i have now is what i wanted in the first place. I just wish i had went a single muffler system to start with, i would have saved myself about $150............ couple of pics of the pacies and high flow cat .

lol.... have you ever used a mig welder before, it's a piece of cake to weld a 2.5in pipe back to that muffler.. jeez.............. I was doing s**t like that in the 3rd week at TAFE...... Only paid an exhaust fitter to remove the hotdog because i didn't have a hoist or pipe press handy and stuff trying to do it with the car on ramps or stands..... I'd rather just pay the man the money.................although i did fit the high flow cat and pacies myself, that was a piece of piss.............. |

If you're happy, we're happy.
only one thing, the fitter got the pipe jammed into the exhaust path. should of flared out the 2.5" pipe so the cat side slides in. think of it as continuing the pacemaker pipe-over design right to the tip. Is there any chance of welding a couple of flage to the muffler? incase you might wanna sell it.

falcon4litreOHC how have you found the droning after the reso removal?
not bad? none at all? wished you'd kept the reso? I wouldnt mind removing my rear reso to see how m 4480's really sound. But I'd make a flange setup so i could but it back on if needed (handy for big highway trips with no droning).

reso's cancel the noise out in the struture of it, the internals workings off the muffler
hotsdog dont cancel as much, they make it a little quieter but not as much, hotdogs are also used in varying lengths to change the note and pitch of the sound

They sound very very good with no reso.. trust me But without a rear reso it drones so bad. I have just traveled 700km in my car today, i can still hear the drone in my head. But taking off at the lights with a 5 speed, it just bliss! I scared a VL driver off, he wouldn't run me

I do have a reso and I have a little drone right on the 100km/h mark. But any more or less in speed and its not there...very odd.

The car's got fairmont carpet underlay and carpet in it, don't know whether that would make a difference or not. |
