I decided to take the heat shield off my extractors yesterday and found water stains all of the way across the length of the engine. So it looks like its time for the head to come off…
I have an el xr6, the head is supposed to flow a bit better than the standard head.
What is the difference between the tickford and standard heads?
How far should I go? Should I increase the inlet and exhaust valves or are they good enough? Should I just concentrate on bowl work and cleaning up the throats? And what would be a reasonable price for this sort of work?

Cheers…

tickford heads had larger exhaust valves.

No need to increase the port size but bowl and throat work helps the flow.
