I drove to sydney and back yesterday and by the time i got back the power steering fluid had run out and the pump was making s**t noises. I think the pump has done its last dash, how hard is to replace the pump yourself if you pick up one from a dealer/wreckers?

ive got one of those maintence manuals thingys, just wondering if its a pain in thee a*** to do coz i don't want to root my steering :?

cheers

you need to know where the PS fluid went first, if you replace the pump and not look for the leak, you will end up in the same position again.
The pump may still be alright (although I doubt it) depending on how long it was run dry, most pumps make horrible noises when they have nothing to pump.

the only tricky part is getin the outflow hose back on.
and not bein unlucky that the internal 0 ring on the hose breaks.

for leaks
any oil on the rack it self??, where switch the lines...
the hoses o ring may have gone already??

Just had something similar happen, the High pressure hose line has a leak
so my recommendation is to replace the high pressure hose aswell not forgetting the O ring also use Mobil 242 Hydraulic fluid.
