OK so Jaysens cam i sback in my car.. this is the stage 3 RPD cam from alted. at present no figures, but lets just say for now it definatly has more than the 141.5 RWKW that is did before!
discovered that when the previous owner had the head rebuilt the mechanic was sponsored by silastic and gasket goop, the stuff was in EVERYTHING!!

the timing chain tensioner even had is IN it and was not tensioning the timing chain! just letting it flap round in there, there is blue silastic crap on everything, nut bolt gasket so on and so forth.

a few of the boys turned up, people had a ride and can attest to the performance of this car, just ask round, people who know will tell you.

dyno run to be done soon, well as soon as the calender and finances allow.. if someone wants to sponsor a dyno run I would be happy to attend.

will post figures when I have them. :!:

Just checked out your gallery. Whats with the red valve springs? do all Tickford come with them or are these after market? Not that you can see them I am just interested to Know why any manufcturer would paint them when they are an engine internal.

it is only on the EF XR's..
I now have an EL Xr6 opened the lid today and the comment was made that the valve springs were not red.

the last 2 XR6's I've had have both been EF's and both have had the red springs..

they look bloody good don't they..

I was a little disapointed to open up the EL and have standard lookin grey ones in there..

but not to worry they came out pretty quick and some heavy duty ones went in.

Is this cam working on standard ECU?
Basically whack the cam in and harder valve springs and away you go?

How do you advance timing on the EF??
Did you also put in a vernier dial in gizmo.

you don't.. I got an EL. yeah with vernier gear you can retard or advance a bit, bit the ECU and coil pack handle it pretty well, I had this exact cam in my EF XR6 that came to a end curtosy of a honda (maybe Takuma Sato in disguise) and one the ECU learned it, there were no probs, Your XR6 is an auto right? that being the case, you will either
1. need to go for something milder.
2. put a hi stall converter in
or
3. Get am manual.

c'mon Timmeh, you know you wanna do it..

sorry mate got you mixed up with Big Kev in ACT. not too many people have an XR6 and an 8.

yeah mate, one way or another you gotta whack either a stage 1,2 or 3 in there.. seriously, my car was written off, I went and hunted for another e series falcon just so I could run that cam again it is that good!

s**t that sounds like a good cam. I "might" think about it.
Sounds like the EF can learn it pretty good.

Got a rough price on getting the cam and springs?

go to the aled website or look in their thread on this this site in the main forum menu, they are a commercial sponsor..

good to see em giving back as well..

but I'm pretty sure there are contact details there for the guys as well.. give Jaysen a call or email him let him know I refered you ( I get mates points) haha..

seriously just enquire and see what they can do..

I know for a fact that the stage 1 and 3 both run on the STOCK EF XR6 ECU. I've done it I know it works.

there is alot of stuff out there that doesn't do it anywhere near as well as what these guys are doing it.

nah its pretty good actually, it holds pretty good and barely has a hunt at all.. I gotta replace my ISC as its sticking and not shutting properly but that is hardly an issue from the cam.

so yeah its a bolt in job.

the idle is pretty tame for a stage 3. however you do still know its there :D

awesome drive for a otherwise stock I6. definitely has the pull.

i think i'll stick to the stage 2 once he sorts that out though
