hey
lately my car has been making a grinding noise that seems to be coming from the steering rack under the engine. the noise only happens when i'm going slowly, like when i'm in a parking lot or doing a u-turn. this problem only happened after i swerved to avoid an obstacle and locked brakes at about 60-70 but i didn't hit anything. if anyone knows what the problem could be and how i could fix it, that would be awesome. i don't really have the money to put it into mechanics, but if that's the only way, i guess it will do. thanks. |

u checked ur power steering fluid mate? if its bone dry that could explain the grinding noise your hearing, and while the car is near stationary is when power steering is working at its hardest, give it a look and c how u go mate

i checked the fluid and it's pretty much full. i topped it up and the noise is still happening. it doesn't happen every day and some days it's louder than others. |

My BA started doing this recently, i think the pump itself is on the way out.... the bearing is quite loud now mind you its done well after 307,000km of abuse.

kinda embarrassing but it turns out one of my brake bads was worn down to steel on the outer edge so it was going steel on rotor on the outer edge...that was the grinding noise.
i changed pads and hope that driving around will kinda smooth out the scoring on the rotor. i know this is a bad idea, but what's the worst that could happen? |
