hey guys. this might be noob sounding question but i was checkin out eafalcon.com and found this guy turboing his ED. i was just wondering what would the benefits of doing this (see pictures below) to ur inlet manifold be. would it effect a N/A motor. cheers

Because there is no benifit in having the long runner if using forced induction.

Makes no differences if its pressurize under boost but it'll be a waste of time and effort if you're doing it for N/A. I try and explain it a simpler way, you end up with a wide flat spot from idle to 3500rpm. the pedal will feel spongy & end up with annoying kick downs.

thats what i was gonna say, but still dont know why? Whats the reasoning behind ditching the 2 stage runners? |

He is using an aftermarket plenum which is using both runners.
Leaving the split there just adds another restriction. |

Better air flow, bit more plenum volume.

the thinner plennium will give you more torque down low due to its air mass, if you grind it out your low range will be sluggish, and top range may increace a little. its more suited to turbos that need the extra induction!

not being rude but i dont know if tyhis helps anything too much?
as heaps of money and time has been spent on making the nizpro plenum which has probably some of the best results. they remove the secondary vac butterbly and dont use the primary side at all. In none forced applications longer runners improve low down torque. but in forced applications low down torque is not required and therefore higher power figures are achieved by the use of shorter runners and boost.
