Ive given the old girl a bit of an overhaul, new leads, fresh plugs, oil+filter, and o2 as recomended.

The old plugs (NGK R) had gotten gummed up around the rim with a sludgey oil build up, the base of the terminal was carboned up, and the tips where scored white. I dont know what white tips means, but it didnt look normal.

Looking though the spark plug hole, the tops of the pistons are covered in sludge. The bores look cleanish, but its hard to say for sure what nick they are in. Either oil control rings have had it, or the bores are glazed I'm starting to think. Praying for glazed bores...

going to see how this oil blackens with the new o2, will run it for a few thou kms, then engine flush treatment, and fresh oil. Im running a special additive I got from the local performance shop to make sure injectors and valves are cleaned, as well as move some of the s**t from the top of the pistons.

Its like a garbage tip inside that motor.

Clean the Air Temp Sensor - or IAT I think you have in the AU. Too much oil on it will stop it from picking up the Temp properly and can also lead to being rich

Im not panicking yet, it ran rather nicely this arvo. It is likely that some damage has been done, but until its chronic theres not much point in worrying. I will be keeping my eye on it. I finally have a breather hose to intake on the rear rocker cover (the regular hose is too short for the BA style intake). I will be dumping this oil in a month, running some shell in it for a few hundered k's with some nulon additives to try and get the gum off the pistons and into the oil. Ill pump some tb cleaner on the day I drop that lot, and re-inspect.

Worst comes to worse ill pop 4 teaspoons of ajax powder down its throat, Ive read that 1 tsp per litre can help clear things up in an emergency.

anyone know what white tipped sparkplugs mean?
