ok ok well i took my beautiful argon silver (beautiful is my opinion) ef falcon to repco a month or two ago and they said 'your rocker cover gasket needs replacing, as do your leads' cos apparently my rocker was leaking oil... replaced it on sunday... and the engine is still leaking oil... now my car doesnt seem to be driving much differently (due to oil loss) so im thinking where else could it be from, it looks like the leak is around the front of the engine... is there a gasket between the block and the belts at the front or something?
also... never ever go to coffey ford for parts people. they rip you off and tell you s**t.

out the right gasket in? ... use silocone on it too? .
yeah, there is a gasket between the block and the head, its a rubber one ... you can replace that by removing the timing chain case ... i'd ge-gease it all, and clean it all up, drive it for a day, and have a look where its coming from . the EF/EL rocker cover gaskets can be a b**ch to sit in right sometimes .even more so around the back of the rocker cover. |

From the Title of this post I thought you must be driving a dunnidore. LOL
Your leak may be coming from the timing case to head seal, genuine is a rubber gasket. However I amd many others have go away from that and use a generous bead of 'Sensor safe silicone' with no gasket. Last time I use this method it lasted well over 4 years. I aways use a small amount of silicone to hold the gasket in place whilst I'm installing the rocker cover.

rocker cover gasket wasnt that hard i found... though i cant replace my leads without taking the inlet stuff off!! grrr at the design...
anyways rocker is clean as a whistle around the seal.. no leaks even at the back... seems to be leaking at the front... i might take it to a mechanics to get done cos i am not good enough to do it myself

However going to a mechanic is going to be costly if it is the timing case to head seal, the least he's going to have to do is, remove radiator to give access to harmonic balancer, remove harmonic balancer, remove power steering pump to gain access to timing chain tensioner, remove tension from timing chain, lower sump, remove timing case, replace gaskets then reverse procedure. I don't think i forgotten anything.

oil leaks seem to be getting a little worse... does the timing cover losing oil affect performance at all?

I wouldn't think so, as long as you keep and eye on your oil level
