But a nice sound is an added bonus. Most of the "big cam" fords Ive heard on youtube sound like tractors Hoping to avoid this when I choose a cam. |

They are tuned length for top end gains compared to the 99's which are for low-midrange. I dont think you'll feel the difference on the road but might see it on the dyno

I dont think you'll feel the difference on the road but might see it on the dyno Wont be running them on a stock exhaust.. In fact I wont even put them on my EA until I swap in the Tickford motor. The only extractors I have owned before were tuned length, on a Datto 260Z and they were nice with a 39/71 cam. Perhaps at Was still making power at 6500-7. To be honest I had not heard that tuned length only benefited top end. Id imagined a balanced output, with free flowing exhaust would be nice across the board. Guess time will tell Getting a bit keen to make this happen. Stocko EA power doesnt excite me. |

I have those on mine, possibly the best off the shelf extractors you can get for the 4.0l

as stated above. are only good for top end power.
I've always used 4499 style extractors as I use my car around town and want low end torque

Barnfind-EA wrote: Are they as good as I suspect? to be honest i have tried three types of extractors I started with the luckey extractors which i felt no diffrence down low or mid and a slight diffrence above 80km. Changed to pacemakers not sure 80's or 99's and feel the same thing no diffrence but costed more . Then changed to JMM extractors and had a noticable diffrence all throughout the rev range. My advice, if you can find a second hand pair of JMM extractors grab them as he is closed. Other wise stick with the 4480's. They sound good with a 200 cpi Cat and 2.5 inch exhaust and a Cam. If you are not putting a Cam use a 100cpi Cat sounds better but with a cam it sounds pingy. |

I have 4480's with largish cam, 100cpi cat and mine doesn't sound "pingy"

Having a high flow cat helps with sound. 4480's increase power everywhere, it is a myth that 4499's are better down low.
IFFFF you can find them, the 4480's with the 38mm primary pipes are best, the newer ones tend to have 41mm primaries. JMM headers give good power because they are longer in the collectors. They did some modeling and testing and found the sweet spot put the cat all the way back under the drivers seat. Couldn't produce it though because placing the cat that far back increases emissions and would have been illegal.

That's tits mate, enjoy. Pound for pound they are top notch. Stick a 100-200 cpsi cat behind them and they go pretty well.
Here's a clip of my AU with those headers if you wanna check it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_H1JZ8SJ5AU
