I had a empty tank, and put $20 worth of the standard octane s**t in it, i normally use premium...
Anyhow, i was giving the ef a little floggin, than when i got home, it just died.

It was pinging.. i let it sit for 5 minutes, it struggled, but managed to restart
Did i blow something?

Not from the type of fuel no

From the floggin maybe...but more than likely you have picked up some rubbish from the bottom of your fuel tank

Lots of things could've gone wrong, wait til it's well and truely cool, and see how it goes normally.

As long as your EF isn't modified in a way that it requires premium, then regular fuel won't be the issue, as suggested something else may be the cause of the pinging. Hopefully you have'nt burnt a valve or melted a piston etc.

check your fuel filter and your fuel pump sock for any blockages. Could just be a bad batch of fuel?

errr wrong.
Believe it or not the fuel pump has a filter attached to the inlet on it. that is the first line of defence, if that gets blocked with gunk then you can clean it and keep going.
Letting your fuel run extremely low is also bad for the fuel pump as the fuel pump is lubricated and also cooled by the petrol that is in your tank, once you get to the bottom and empty your start to overheat the pump therefore reducing the life of it as well as sucking up a whole heap of crap.

ok true you got me there, i should say first to the injectors. the one in tank is to stop large crap going in to the pump.

See the machinest photo.. warped!! the ends would shave, but it took ages for it to start shaving the middle section.

Got the new crow cam in, and tappets.. no more ticking..
Does any one know the final torque setting for the head bolts?.. the rocker thingy
