People start up hi performance shops that have no real formal training in proper engine machining/ racing engine preparation. Promise the world, we can do this or that and then send it out for someone else to do. When you next get work like this done, have a look at what equipment they have, find out what they do in house and experience they have. You may be surprised. Rod. I run a CMS Stage 3 head and have had plenty of work done there. I can say that I have had no issues with the workmanship or the support from CMS. They have plenty of vehicles with their head packages running around with great results. I have known Joe and his crew for many years and not only have I found them helpful at every turn, I am proud to call them friends. Unfortunately because you told us they're your friends you have just undermined your own argument and supplied motive for an emotional response. |

I haven't undermined my argument at all.
I posted my support due to the workmanship and support they provide. If their workmanship was not up to it I would not have posted as such here. |

In vast contrast to the objective response given by someone who is nothing more than a customer and has no emotional ties. If you mean you have a friendly but professional relationship with them, thats different. |

I respectfully disagree with that!. im friends with a lot of mechanics yet some I wont recommend. I will only recommend some one on their workmanship, not because im friends with them, so you can still give an objective response if you have "emotional ties" I highly doubt SWC would recommend someone with shoddy workmanship

As Ranga said, whether I am "friends" or not does not come into the equation. I recommend CMS because of their workmanship, nothing else. I am friends with alot of other trades and some I would not recommend, others I would, I would also recommend people that I am not friends with based on their workmanship and support. |

Hi I thought I'd post in here rather than make a new topic.
I am looking for a good cam and I have contacted cms about getting a reground cam. Due to the holidays I will need to wait till the 12th for further information from them. I have been told by a few people that cms do really good regrinds and apart from adding some shims they are a direct swap over with no further work needed. Now I'm after some suggestions on which cam I should get and why. |

All depends on what you want out if it, and what other mods you have

I want a bit more torque. I very rarely go over 4500rpm. I hardly get over 2500rpm when I'm driving sedately. The only time I go over that is when I'm either a) in a rush b) some ricer is being a wanker or c) I'm on the highway and I'm over taking someone.
I've never really looked into a cam before and the specs confuse me. Extractors into 2.5" venom 100 cpsi cat, 2.5" single muffler catback, au headgasket, au injectors, 5 degrees advanced ignition timing, el ecu with j3 chip and adjustable shift kit. |

I dont know cms's cams but something along the lines of a 977b would probably suit you. SWC can let you know which one of the cms cams will suit

Stage 2A would suit what you have perfectly.

The 2a was for autos and the 2 for manualz as far as I'm aware. Correct me if I'm wrong here SWC

{USERNAME} wrote: The 2a was for autos and the 2 for manualz as far as I'm aware. Correct me if I'm wrong here SWC That is correct. The original Stage 2 was ground to suit both but is more suited to the manual. The Stage 2A was specifically ground to suit the auto. {USERNAME} wrote: I have been told by a few people that cms do really good regrinds and apart from adding some shims they are a direct swap over with no further work needed. Any regrind cam will require additional shims. Most are ground so that they will accept 1 additional factory shim, 2 shims per valve in total. Only a billet cam will only use 1 shim. |
