Greetings All
Going to do the head gasket on my EA. As we know, the only bolts available are for the AU. But the box I got stated that on earlier E Series, some grinding of the camshaft support posts may be necessary to accomodate the integral washer. Anyone done an early E series with AU bolts and did you have any probs?? Thanks |

Fitted tons of them to E series and never had to grind the posts, they do come close but the ones i've done have always had clearance.

Thanks for that Walker. Hopefully, mine will be likewise. |

have seen heaps of these not fit, we have ground the head of the bolt slightly
to get them to fit, grind around the bolt on a slight angle |

So would the AU bolts go straight into a EF head?

will I have to do this on my EB ?? usually, the new bolts will have a larger diameter at the head, some people grind the head to suit but i find it easier to grind ( chamfer ) the washer section of the new head bolt. they dont make the smaller ones any more for some reason. |

Try Thomson Ford in Parramatta.
Good man Troy. If he hasn't got them, he'll get them for you. |

strange cos on the box it says.. 'headbolt kit for EA EB EF EL & AU'

I would rather grind the edge out of the rocker gear, if you do the head again you'll be changing bolts and have to do it again.
I've never had the problem anyway, you'd be unlucky to strike it where you have to grind me thinks. I always torque the head down and fit the rocker assembly after it anyway, so if i did strike it i'd definately be grinding rocker posts lol. |

wouldn't imagine grinding neccessary Yeah, my box said EA to AU but there was a note inside about the "possible" need for grinding on earlier models. |

I sell them everyday of the week and never heard of doing that once. Also the torque settings ain't the best out there either. Try 40nm then 80nm then 110nm as used by JMM & RPD
