just wondering the head differences from EA to AU ( asuming head are similari)
1) the flow differences 2) value differences 3) just basic informaiton 4) how much differnence is there to the EAI or EAII Spac, EBI Spac XR6, EBII, XR6 ED XR6 EF/EL XR6 AU XR6 just wondering cause i want to slowly do up the engine in the ea want to get a head that is better for example xr6 if not xr6 something very similiar or better from later models.

been said MANY times before, but...
All intake valves the same size standard e-series have 39mm exhaust valves tickford eseries and all AU's have 41mm exhaust valves EA has smaller chambers and swirl ridge eb xr6 is the 'best' flowing head (not by much) AU's have smaller ports than e-series AU's have thinner valve stems than e-series Most of the heads flow somewhere around 300hp stock, ported they flow 370-390.

I have read that EBII is the better head overall but as i found out stockstandard wrote: been said MANY times before, but... EBII XR6 Head (there isn't an EBI XR6) But is the head is a good one just use that one, basically from EBII on to EL is the same head bar the xr6 varient. If it was me i would go AUII XR6 NON-VCT head one can just assume it would be low key and a good start

Yeah thats what i have read to EBII is the best head stock but the AU is the best and cheapest if you want to port it.

This article just confirms what has been said above. I've just done my EL 95DA head and followed most of what has been done to this AU head, looks good.

If you want to upgrade the head itself without doing any headwork at all, id probably go for an EF XR6 head, if you can get one for a good price. They have the larger exhaust valves and apparently revised ports or something, but it wouldnt be much of a difference. If you're going to do headwork, id go for an AU one, apparently they dont flow as well but have potential when you start porting them

If u want power don't bother swapping heads over cause you won't feel any difference with leaving them standard. Give jim mock a call and get one of his street fighter heads and a cam package. Then bobs your uncle

In addition to the info already put up, Tickford heads I think have harder valve guides than std as well as uprated springs. As far as fitting upgraded springs to any pre AU head I believe Cleveland V8 springs fit - ie. so any performance springs for Clevo ...
When I got the EF XR6 head for my ED I compared it to the old std ED head and the biggest thing (apart from the obvious difference in rocker cover sill) that stood out is that in the original ED head the guides protrude into the ports thru raised bosses (mounds) - whereas in the EFXR6 head the guides just come out of the sidewalls of otherwise smooth bores. I did not notice any seat of pants performance improvement - I guess there'd have to be some increase in balls out max power? The BIG thing that unlocked power in my engine was the cam.
