G'day I have searched but still don't feel I'm across everything. I have 2005 BF Egas, it's my first Falcon, so I'm not that familiar with them.
I am pretty sure I have blown a head gasket (morning start a clunk) and then it starts at second go, and is using a bit of water, not huge amounts but noticeable. I'm thinking about doing myself. Head gasket (Payen Head Gasket # AE5850) kit with bolts around $150. Is there a pictorial how to, I couldn't find one. Any other thread you could point me to for instructions or advice? First thing buy a workshop manual it's the greatest thing I've ever done car wise.

make sure ya not losing water elsewhere too ie hose connections, radiator, heater tap etc

And get your coolant tested for CO Carbon Monoxide.
Better to know for sure instead of assuming - you'll be p****d to find later you've spent all that time on a needless job.

its a TK tester MAD

two separate cylinders, in line with each other filled with a special liquid, uses a plunger type thing to suck the air out of the radiator/header tank. if carbon monoxide is present it changes the colour of the liquid

Thanks guys. I have a pressure tester, so will hook that up tomorrow, but can def hear the water getting compressed in the morning start.
