Go the leads before expecting the worst. Leads will break down under heat.
otherwise Most likely it has blown on no6. Rip the plug out an 6, disconnect the ignition (so it won't start) and crank it over. More than likely a squirt of water will come out. Another way to check is take it to a mech. Most of them have what my mech calls a "sniffer". It tests the coolant (I assume) for traces of carbon etc. Also look for bubbles in the rad over flow bottle.
Hope this helps

Don't fret man. My EB had a blown headgasket for 18 months before I fixed it and I drove it around 30 thousand ks like that!

Just try replacing your leads. Also would try checking the inlet manifold bolts for tightness, try also spraying some water down along te inlet gasket area whilst engine is running to see if you inlet gasket is leaking. If you really suspect you have a blown or leaking head gasket i would advise to take it to a mechanic to determine whether which cylinder is got water in it or you have a different problem. Also another thing that can play up could be the memcal on the distributor heating up,just another hing to look at.

When I had my EA, it was missing, I had the leads changed, and also, the distributor cap was cracked so I changed that. Fixed all the problems. This should be your first course of action as its relatively cheap compared to getting the head pulled off. Also, how many km's has the car done?

Whoever said you need an engine crane is full of s**t mate. Take off your intake pipe and airbox, and you can squeeze your hand up there onto the dizzy cap. Take off and replace each lead one by one as not to get the order mixed up. It took me about and hour to do it and a lot of frustration but i got it done!

If the misfiring is only occurring once it's warmed up then it's very likely to be the head gasket or a temperature-vacuum problem. Some easy stuff to check before changing the cap/leads:

~ Coolant loss and bubbles in the radiator
~ Motor oil (for milkiness indicating presence of water)
~ Spark plugs (to see if one is getting 'washed')
~ ECU fault codes
~ Selectively block off vacuum systems (starting with the EGR)

Does the misfiring go away at higher revs, eg. above 2500 RPM? If so then a blown head gasket or vacuum problem seems more likely than a spark problem.

sounds like headgasket to me mate.

Its only missing when its at operating temp is becuase thats when the thermostat opens and allows coolent to flow through the block...and head :(
