i read a doco around somewhere. maybe on FFAU im not sure. but if your not too stupid and take your time you should be fairly right i think.
just make sure you get your head tested to make sure it is ok and get the surface skimmed while your there.
and just replace everygasket you take off, head bolts engine oil and coolant. probably wouldnt hurt to do thermostat too and any heater hoses that look old

As for how much it cost to fix. Mine cost $715 but can cost upto $1200-$1300 if the head itself is stuffed. DYI will cost a lot less, around $300 without head.

pick up a gregory's manuel, there cheap to buy and can point you in the right direction, just make sure you have the right tools for the job.

Yeah i just got mine done, cost $1209 all up. Thats with the head, full service (oil, coolant etc) Pretty much every hose the coolant goes through replaced, all new hose clamps, new spark plugs. Pretty much did alot of work on the car. All genuine ford stuff aswell, which is probs why the cost was a tad higher.
