i need to do my head gasket on my el xr6...i read somewhere that some one had a au head gasket on there pre au (ea eb ed el ef) is this possible?? and if so is it better??

for starters its steel... Let prone to blowing out...
Secondly its thinner so lifts compression slightly...

Pretty much the same head... Everybody else here runs one if you search and read peoples build threads...

alright cool and what sort of work can i do to my head to get her going abit better while its off?without touching the camshaft?

unless your into big dollars with porting and polishing it...
Not much... The alloy heads are pretty good... As Dorman said replace your seals... Jim Mock have that drag car and they are under the impression the EF head was the best of all the heads... Not sure why now... Cam is a fairly cheap option you know? Esp for a regrind... Cheers, Tim

You are aware what a port and polish costs?
You stick a cam in the std head and you will make the same if not more power for the less than the cost of the port and polish... You seem to know a lot judging by all your threads?

wild-el wrote: can i do anything to the rockers or the valves? rocker gear cannot be changed... what do you wanna do to the valves? Redo the seals and seats like mentioned? I guessed you would have known this with the level of expertise you've shown all round so far?
