Don't use an AU head gasket there not as good as the ef/el I have an AU and the put an EL one on mine cos there better.

I don't think torqing the crap out of head bolts is the answer they have a specific torque setting to adhere to plus the damage that can be done by over torqing the head bolts. |

Re torqueing head bolts is a thing of the past new head bolts will not take the punishment. Head is most likely cracked or corroded

Just replace the engine... it will be easier.
I killed the old 4L in my fairy... so I dropped it over at a mates place. Drove it home the next day, with an XR6 motor in it.

l just did my head, l did the work myself save a lot of money so anyway
l toke the head to engine reco and they deck it and crack test it for 50 bucks, a full head gasket kit 120 bucks (DO NOT PUT ANY GLUE ON HEAD GASKET, PUT ON DRY AND PUT IN WATER AND NOT COOLINT ) plus new head bolts 40 bucks what a must. two day job.............have fun with the last bolt inlet .......................GOOD LUCK |
