the gaskets are the same, but your much better off using an AU head gasket (from ford)

You dont need to change anything when you put an xr6 head on

Also, dont forget to use new head bolts and make sure the head and block are spotlessly clean before you put the new head gasket in.

rushed is correct, AU head gasket will last alot longer, and get AU head bolts too.

You'll barely notice any difference with a XR head without the cam and ECU.

However if you can get it cheaply, grab it.

All the gaskets are the same between models, but don't use an ACL or monotorque.
Use an AU head gasket (they are much better and with in theory increase compression ratio by a bee's d**k)

and most importantly, Buy new head Bolts

Everything else is plug and play!

Andrew

trust 'us' don't use the permaseal head gasket (everything else is ok)

personally i got my head from JJM.

I ended up getting a full reco 94DT head with cam, bolts, hla's seals, all for $550 (with a few trade ins)

If your to port the head... do it to a standard one, there are benefits in doing so.

if keeping your head just get it crack tested, surfaced and a quick going over... any local shop should be able to do it for about 200bux

Definately use new head bolts. If you don't the head could lift and blow out the gasket heaps quicker. You also run the risk of bottoming out the bolts before you get to the proper torque, as they stretch, which also leads to the possability of them shearing off.
