Close to bugger all to gain unless you're doing it along with lots of other mods.

on the topic of head work, will a port and polish give any noticable gains? apart from the LSD and chip im getting put in sometime soon Im stuck on ideas for a few more mods for my 6 without going all out.
Is their any more things I can do for more power (around the $1000 mark) without putting on race heads and expensive stuff like that, i was thinking oversized valves and a vernier timing gear but i cant see that giving me a big gain...

just shave it until it's flat. or you could end up with to much compression.
and you can't put it back on after you shave it. you probably won't notice much power at all. unless your engine is worn and the compression is down. but then shaving the head to get it back will only add the stresses on the aleady worn rings and wear them out faster. if you're building an engine that needs more compression you should do it with high comp pistons to save your head on case you ever need to shave it again. if you go to far you have nothing left if you need it. then you be up for a new head and more porting to get it like the old one. but if you have to ask. i take it the above is not the case. start with other things first it will be cheaper and you'll get more gain |
