Hi all,

Firstly, what a fantastic website for us young newbs to get overwhelmed and confused by ... (so much power, so many ways of getting it) :)
Secondly, i dont know how to use this yet so bare with me.

Decided since buying the car that i wanted to fit some headers. That time has come and i've ended up at 'Custom exhaust specialists' in Perth. They definatly seem to know there stuff and have told me a lot for which i'd like to pass on, to see if it sounds right.

I drive a EL XR6 manual with a cat back, They have reconmended both a custom set of pipes and pacies ph4480's

The custom set seem to be a 3-2-1 or 6-2-1 patten interference header which im assuming is a torque extractor. And the collector cone being hand made broadens or so im told, the effective rev range of the torque and hence power of the header up to 4700 odd rpm peak (due to increased scavenge effeciency of the hand made collectors). Making it a torque extractor which has some highish rpm power.

And after all that crap... my questions are.

Has what the shop told me sound like its resonably true?
Any one with ph4480's that might/might not have lost torque down low, when in the rev range did u start to gain ?
For a $200 price difference which should i get ?
and im planning soon to get a Stg 2 cam, for street applications is 4700 rpm peak a good enough over lap. or would the pacies be the go ?

Thanks all, sorry for making it so long.

Go the pacey comps. I've only had good experience with mine and they shhit all over my previous Luukeys.
As for the custom pipes, whose making them? They should bee significantly more expeensive being a once off jjob, the extra mooney is unlikely to be worth it over the pacemakers and the quality of them is nott necesarily going to be as good! And if there custom how come they already knnow what set up? Sounds sus to me.

The custom pipes, are made in batches by a company in Queensland to the aftermarket specification of the exhaust shops around australia who are in the custom game.... so yeh there not an exclusive custom job. Im assuming the $200 premium is due to the batches there made in.
