If you tightened them propperly I wouldn't touch them untill you do it again.
When you pull it down havea good look at why its failed. You will need new headbolts and a new gasket. Protorque gaskets are way better then monotorque if you don't wanna forkout for the au one. Somepeope use silicone on them. Some silicones deterioate gaskets and are designed for use with no gasket. The way I see it if the blocks straight and the heads skimmed you don't need any liquid gasket. |

Could be mate. All depends on what liquid gasket they used.
Sometimes when they do a head gasket on the cheap for a customer that's gonna flog it off or something along the lines, instead of machining the head if they can get away with it they'll just stuff some liquid gasket in there to fill the gaps. Other times they'll use a hymolar gasket maker to try to extend gasket life. |

Personally, I wouldn't want to touch the head bolts once they have been tightened to a specific torque and gone through hundreds of heat cycles. So i take it not to check the bolts and re tighten them?...I should buy new head bolts? new MLS gasket (Where to get it from?), and should I be using gasket sealant on the headgakset, as...insurance? I've used sealant before when i rebuilt my 308 no harm done, just not sure about these engines. cheers - Ash If you want to save some money, you can check the head bolts. Bolts may not have been tightened enough originally, so you might be able to get away with tightening them a little bit more...at a guess 5-10 degrees. Can get a MLS gasket from Ford. New head bolts is a good idea if you redo the head. You don't need to put any sort of sealant on the gasket, but some people like to put a coat of Hylomar on it, won't do any harm in either case. Hope that helps a little.
