IMO I'd stay away from Ultra tune, Ive seen them do LOTS of damage to a car when replacing the head gasket .

I say a price would be about $800 ..

Cos its not just a matter of replacing the head gasket, and shaving the head .

head SHOULD be crack tested, vavles checked for clearance, lifters re-done, new vavle stem seals,

Plus then you got a gasket kit on that, and labour .

Taking the head on and off is really not that hard at all .. But I'd be taking the head to someone who can at LEAST crack tested . and machined .

Cost me around $400 doing it myself. Included VRS kit, head bolts, head machined and crack tested, valve stem seals replaced and radiator flushed/pressure tested.

Wicksy, invite a mate over one afternoon who has a bit of nous when it comes to cars and it'll cost you $90 including a slab of beer for you and your mate to do it in an afternoon.

You don't want to be spending too much on a car when you can just get another one of the same type for a few hundred dollars without head probs

My advice is when doing a head gasket change,
1: double check everything
2: remove as much coolant as you can
3: when the heads on and ready to run, just install demineralized water no coolant. Run with this for a few days THEN install an inhibitor eg. tectaloy ultra cool gold (1Lt/15Lt)
This way no chemicals will interupt in the 'baking' of the new gasket.

n also make sure the cylinder head surface making contact withe the surface of the block are both as smooth and clean as a "Marble floor" with absolutly no old gasket s**t remaining... so your new haskets seals properly...
