Hey guys,
One of my headlights has blown and i'm just wondering if I can replace them with something better. What are good brands that I should be looking at and can I replace them with brighter ones? |

read the packet and the good ones will tell you X % brighter and X amount more meters visability. the crap ones dont have that written on them just " appear brighter" which they do just dont shine that far.
stay away from bulbes with blue coloured glass.

Hmmm. any reason why I've seen so many head lights blow including mine?
Are people just using crappy bulbs, I got a heap of cheap crappy ones and they blow every couple months. Is that normal or is there a problem with my electrical system? |

Test Narva +50 side by side with the Phillips Crystal Vision ... the Crystal vision "looked good" ... while the Plus 50 had better light output.
+50 was much cheaper ... and also lasted longer as well than the Phillips as well.

Could be crap bulbs, or electrical problems. Dont touch the glass when installing the bulbs, this causes them to blow early. If it was an electrical problem you'd probably be blowing other globes too. |

Heheh thanks, sorry smdoherty
Yer I'm careful not to touch the globes, No other globes blow, except the parker lights. Not sure if its useful but my indicators sometimes blink really fast, usually when theres a electrical load (ie. brake lights). I will grap another pair today, finally I will be able to see at night |

you probably shouldnt be using them in a lamp designed for 55/60w. not only will it be creating more heat which the lens probably wont like, it will be running the wiring hotter cause of the extra current. its a fact that higher wattage globes will die sooner. the filament runs hotter, making it weaker. its all calculations. to gain the higher wattage more current will pass through it.

Might be a short somewhere, check if one of your indicators stops working when youre on the brakes (or stays on steady) |
