i have two eb 4.0l in the back yard with relatively new heads..
my old man is complaining about the engines so iv decided to rip the heads off and plasti wrap em and put em on the shelf ...then scrap the blocks
Q: what is the best way to do so , do i need to keep the rocker gear ect in order
and how do i remove a timing chain..

Rocker gear comes of as one assembly anyway. Remove timing chain/gear by putting a large screwdriver through the holes in the gear, bracing it against the head, and undo the bolt.

Obviously don't put the screwdriver where the rocker cover gaskets going to be

I usually brace it either on the first rocker gear bearing shell, or where the gasket goes. As long as you are sensible it doesn't do any damage.

I've got a foot lengh of 25mm square tube and at the end welded on is two 6" lengths making a Y shape, welded a large bolt on each part of the Y and there you have a cam gear brace. Very very handy.
