Has anyone had a problem with heat soak. Like as soon as she gets hot from a long idle or hot day, it loses heaps of power.
I've sometimes gotten heat soak from a long idle, even on a day of 17 degrees. She can lose a s**t load of power when the day is warm, a bit too easily sometimes. Is that just something to put up with? |

I get heat soak issues in both cars on warm days.
Noticable lack of performance, but not to the point of detonation Just makes you enjoy the cool mornings and nights more.

pour some concentrated injector cleaner in your tank for the next 3 to 4 tank refills. it'll help get rid of that carbon build-up in your combustion chambers. a thick build up of carbon can glow nice & red hot, causing your air/fuel to ignite prematurely = timing retard plus less tenser air= lost of power. why would you leave it idling for long periods? carbon deposits love to form in those conditions. even your catalytic converter.
something to eliminate first before starting ripping out the radiator.

Long idle as in 10 minutes going through a fast food line. Sometimes just doing that can bring on a bit of heat soak=loss of power...

My car suffers from this severley. When the engine gets warm its fine, but if the day is over say, 20 degrees, the car gets a lot hotter and becomes extremely sluggish !
Anybody know how to fix this? Is it just a matter of a cooler thermostat? |

seriously try pouring some water down the intake... i know it's hard on an EFI car.. it should clean your combustion chamber carbon.... if that is your problem.... i also sugested it beceause i like water injection, so sue me... thats what I've got...........50% water + 50% methylated spirit. But I wouldn't pour water down the intake. you'll end up with engine hydraulic, water can only be compressed so much, snap there goes your piston rod.

lucky I mentioned it, otherwise some poor young blood might take your word for it & start putting a water hose through the throttle body with tap turned on full blast. hehehe, I don't find it funny!

just get your windex spray bottles and take the intake pipe off and squirt it lightly.
