Howdy all,
Got a problem with my heater tap, its on an EF I6, its the the newer plastic one. There isnt enought vacuum to hold it shut whilst the aircon is on, or just the vent. So the aircon takes for ever to cool the car down properly, and with the vent on it just blows hot air which is very uncomfortable. Does anyone have an idea on why the vacuum could be so low? South

I was under the impression that these taps are always shut with no vacuum. It takes vacuum to open them.

Yeh its a monte, and the blend doodad has been busted for a long long time, its only of recent that the air has been hot all the time. I did manually close the valve last night, and found this morning that it was nice and cool with the vent on.
No vacuum = open = heat Vacuum = closed = cool

It's the other way around. Tap is normally open, requires vacuum to close it. You see that when you buy a new one. It is open before being connected.
