Do any companies make / sell helix spacers, throttle bodies and mass air flow meters kits for an EF 6cyl???

EF/EL 6CYL dont have a MAF, so dont need to worry about that.

I'm not having a lot of luck getting any info, so from what i have seen of Helix Spacers I think I could make my own - they are just a profile cut spacer that has a thread / Helix to manipulate the air flow.
But I have a few questions: Does the helix actually do anything considering the spacer is probably only about an inch thick and the helix isn't that agressive. Maybe the performance gain is from the increased plenum volume?? i might build a little wind tunnel using a section of clear tube and a fan to see if the helix actually has an effect, I might try a stator or piece of mesh as well just to get idea of the differences - bearing in mind i don't want to add to much resistance to the airflow. Once i've found the setup that causes the most turbulence I might book some dyno time to see if a plain spacer or a modifed one actually makes a difference. Does anyone know the air flow rate is for a ef falcon at about 2000 rpm??? - so i can set up the right fan for the wind tunnel. Why do helix spacers only seem to be availbe for V8's - is it because the EF 6 cylinders have a boardband manifold??? your opinions please |

There are no aftermarket parts for the Falcon 4L
No aftermarket heads, intakes.. nothing like what the Windsors have available, thats why I've given up on the 4L

Alternatively you can also "POLISH" your t/b (do it yourself otherwise its not worth the money) which some people claim its a better thing for the ef/els but bleh .. http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_0360/article.html article on air sensor for your intake.. |

Its a commonly accepted fact that the Throttle bodies on the 6's do not need any mods. Some will suggest a polish but thats about it.
I have asked around on the topic and to no luck. Bla! Helix spacers however have not been looked into so I bid you luck with that. When talking about air intake a mandrel bend air box to throttle body is recommended and a very good starting point.

V8 Windsor guys make very big power with 65mm throttle bodies.. in extreme cases you will see them go to 70mm (for 300RWKW type applications).

Bottlejack - Hmmm you have got me thinking now. It might be that there is a helix spacer avaliable for another car avaliable overseas that will fit. Might look into it oneday.
Edit: Ran a quick search and found a helix spacers avaliable for the Ford 4L. Its for American cars though. http://www.performanceimprovements.homestead.com/ Migh be worth looking into thoguh.

I think that will be for a 4.0L Ford Explorer motor - do they run the same thottle body as a falcon???

I've seen these spacers on ebay. They do exist.
Wether or not they do anything I don't know. My experience with things like this is that they're all talk and don't do squat. Proof? Ford need to keep costs down. So if they can put a $10 spacer b/n the plenum and the throttle body that will give 5kw more power, then they can take something off the engine to take away the 5kw and save $100. What I'm trying to say is, if this was the latest liracle to hit the globe and is such a huge bang for your buck, why haven't the car companies caught onto it? Also, if you make your wind tunnel, make sure the fan is sucking and not blowing. A blowing fan creates a circular airflow. The airflow going through the intake pipes is not circular, so you'd be comparing apples to oranges and your results would be up the preverbial creek. |

so are their any gains (not necessarily just in rwkw/rwhp terms) from a ported & polished TB? i've picked up johnos (SVO XR6) old TB off him, which hes had ported to about 68mm - and will be throwing it on the car either way, but just wondering as to what i might expect?
cheers!

Unsure about gains. I cannot make any statments on that subject. Indeed there are many gimics trying to get some cash outta exploiting my love for rwhp.
And again, I have not seen any 4L 'pros' offer helix spacers, so I cant comment there either. Flashy bits do catch my attention though.
