my fairmont was running at around 20/100kms and i replaced the oxy sensor, it has actually gone up!! (avg l/kms) Although i must admit i havent driven it too much yet. I filled it up tonight along with some injector cleaner so i will see how it goes over the next week or so . Is it possible for it to use 30+ ltrs of fuel/100kms??? what could be some other possibilities??

Check/Replace MAP sensor
Also check for any vacuum leaks.

if you haven't driven close to 100km, then I suggest you wait until you have driven 100km. Once your odometer reads 100kms then look at the average...it should drop over time.
If problem persists, what waggin said. phong =P~

if your really averaging 30l/100k then ild say the only explanation is that you have a leak in your petrol tank

Are you taking this figure from a trip computer or ur own calculations from the milage? Only reason I ask is I wouldnt think that a leaky fuel tank would effect the L/Km figure the trip computer gives you? But I guess that depends on how it figures it all out...

The trip compuer uses injector pulse width and road speed to determine avg consumption. For Distance To Empty it uses the average consumption and buffered tank level.

yer well leaky fuel tanks is out of the question cause i would have noticed that. I will probably take it for a long drive on the weekend and see how it goes.

if u jsut reset the trip computer then it will be high too, until u do some descent driving to get it down

do atleast 100kms, yes it is posiible to do 30l or more per kilometer as my ef mont on regular used to run 34lper100km then on premo was runnin 29l per 100 now that was with f**k o2 sensor, coolant temp and cam angle(one where the dizzy normaly is) now it run bout 25l per 100, i havent yet replaced the cam angle sensor but all these play a part in fuel consumption

Is it running really cold?
It can display 30L/100km in an instant, even double that when you boot it.. Is this the "instant" figure, like real - time consumption? Need to check the average dude, after it's done 100km. |

If there is a drop in power check to see if the cat hasnt collapsed, this can cause high fuel consumption.
