How hard is it to swap out a pump? Can it be done in a day? I unfortunately am away from home so have no tools or a place to work on my car so if anyone is willing to help I'll pay for your time somehow....

No Problem, just a freebe to help you out. I am only using the AC for a project setup. Doesn't need to be working. Offer is still there if you want.

They are quite easy to swap out too.

Should only take an hour all up.

Either SWC or myself have the necessary tools if you want to throw in a spare to get you home.

Rebuilt ones a quite expensive. I went to Pick N Payless and found a car that still had gas pressure in the A/C system and removed it. Was approx $50 from memory.

Pick N Payless is not far from me and would be happy to go with you and take tools ect either tomorrow or Wednesday. I am working Thursday and Friday. Weekend would be OK too.

Cheers
BenJ

What sort of liquid is it leaking? I wasn't aware the pully was oil filled, if it's leaking oil fron the compressor I'd just not use the a/c on the way home.
Be careful the ac oil is a***.

if the aircon pump is leaking its oil, that means its also leaking gas. the pulley itself is just an idler when the pump is off, so even if the aircon has lost all its gas and oil the pulley will still free spin..
Just run the current system til it runs out of gas.
If it's leaking around the front clutch plate, then the shaft seal is leaking. Best get a 2nd hand one (EF/EL) from a filled system as mentioned(be careful when discharging gas, which is illegal of course), replace it once you're home - because it's a good idea to remove the front bumper to get to the receiver/drier, which should be replaced also.
