My EF's aircon pulley has started leaking liquid, which tells me it's about to go bye bye. Thing is I'm in Sydney, so major repairs aren't a option for me right now, can someone help me and let me know what u can do so I can get home? Can I replace the pulley or do I need to replace the whole AC unit? I don't want to be stuck on the highway with a seized pulley...

Any help would be great!

I dont know how to change the actual pulley, does your A/C have Gas in it? does the A/C work? If not I'd be buying a 2nd hand pump, otherwise, you might be able to get a shorter belt to bypass it.

Aircon works fine, plenty of gas. Would a shorter belt work I heard u can't do it cause the tensioner gets in the way?

What sort of liquid is it leaking? I wasn't aware the pully was oil filled, if it's leaking oil fron the compressor I'd just not use the a/c on the way home.
Be careful the ac oil is a***.

if the aircon pump is leaking its oil, that means its also leaking gas. the pulley itself is just an idler when the pump is off, so even if the aircon has lost all its gas and oil the pulley will still free spin..

Aslong as the pulley isn't noisy you'll be right.

It seems to be just the
Pulley leaking liquid, is squealing when the engine runs and aircon is off. I know it not good just want to know if it can be repaired quickly?

Will engine still run if aircon pump is busted? Last time aircon went on my last Ef the pulley seized and as a result engine wouldn't turn over... I really don't want to be stuck in Sydney

if the intenals of the pump die, the car will run fine aslong as the aircon is kept turned off, but if its making noise while the aircon is off you may be in trouble.. if the bearing in the pulley seizes then yes it will stop the engine from running...

. My worst fear!! So I can't just put a new pulley on? By the squeal it makes am pretty sure it's the bearing

not with ease, the bearing can be replaced but im pretty sure the pump will need to come off the engine to do it...

depending on how long your in sydney, it might be easier to get a second hand unit from a wreckers to get you home...
