ok so i have just done the hell of all jobs on my XG XR6 ute and change the heater core in it.....
now i have stuck it all back together and i swear i didnt miss any wiring plugs or earth''s but the car wont start. i turn the key on and all dash lights are normal appart from the smart lock light which blinks in this combination: 1 1 1 1 - 1 1 1 1 - 1 1 1 1 - 11111111111111111111111forever i assume it is code 4 or 444. i have proceded with the smartlock reset (key on for 1 hour) and got the car to turn over but when i turn key of again, the code comes back. i cant find anything on fordmods to tell me what the code means or how to fix it. thanks |

Did you turn the key to accessory or to red for the hour? Key needs to be on red. Does your interior dome light work? Check all fuses? And relays?

Code 4 is defined as
"Electronic Lock Assembly To 'Smartlock' Connector Open Electronic Lock Assembly I/O Circuit Open Electronic Lock Assembly Power Supply Circuit Open" So with that... Did you plug in the 4 pin plug that plugs into the ignition barrel that activates smartlock? Cheers, Tim

thanks for the reply..i am fairly sure i plugged all plugs in again. i have done the 30min reset with reds on and it starts and if i turn key off for more than 30seconds then it i have to repeat the reset again.....i have tried different ecu's and same thing. i miss driving the beast now....ill check plugs again as i have the dash out now.

ok,l i have found the issue. the little black our pinned plug that comes off of the ignition wasnt plugged in. only issue now is that i cant find the other plug its supposed to join... can anyone tell me where i could look to find it? is it on pass side or driver side of steering column? thanks.

OK, just an update, after pulling the dash out twice, I found the plug and chucked it back in. All I need is the xh serp belt n she's good to go. Thanks everyone for your help.

No worries man...
At least you came to us with a code... Most people give you half a story so it makes it much harder to say check this... In your case, code 4,check the barrel assembly... Once I read that I reckoned you'd left the 4 pin plug undone... Cheers, Tim
