aaaanyway, is it really that important to keep using the same coolant brand? i just use shell coolguard s**t, but i doubt that's what my garage used last time it was serviced.

if you give it a good flush you can change brands. ive heard changing brand could create a chemical reaction if there are diff chemical in the coolant never seen it happen thou and ive changed brands lots but i alway's flush my system when changing coolant anyway

funny enough, i added some coolant to the fbt one day n it bubbled up with white foam!
So i flushed the lot out n ran water thru it for a few min, then started from scratch..
Now i just wish i remoced my overflow tank while i was at it as ill have to go thru it all again to swap it!

Its easy, pull bottom hose off, after taking off 2 10mm bolts that hold fans in, take off thermo housing, uses an o ring, flush from bottom hose so it pours out the top , stick hose in water pump side, till it runs clear from thermo housing, all done, use concerntrate, as water remains in the block, i could only fit in 10 litres.

Nothing to be worried about, majority of people add coolants to their systems and dont even care the slightest - I didnt on my green car too much..
Now I rather use the one only coz it started to have weird bubbles in it, never seen it do that before!
Its not hard to flush your system so dont stress if its nec.
Remove overflow cap, undo the big hose at the bottom of the radiator n watch it drain out, then try n run flush the last bit out if you feel theres a need, wouldnt be much left in there after its drained.

Yep - sound advice from the lads. If you need to change coolant brand/type then make sure you give the system a good flushing until all the colour disappears from the water you're flushing with.

As per daniel's example, even a bad idea with top ups.

Alkaline treatments are really good, so ive found. Just ran one thru on the weekend after installing new radiator. Just add the flush, fill the system with water and let her idle for 20mins or so (best to read directions on bottle). But then gotta make sure you flush the flush out REAL good coz its nasty stuff.
