Hey there, I noticed on the way to the hawthorn pub tonight, that my battery indicator was really low, and the red light was on and dim,....after further analysis it seemed that when the car was on and driving, the alternator ( was not charging the battery,(worried that it wouldn't start) it did, and as i pulled into my drive way the pin was sitting on the red light,
Also as i accelerated, the light would get dimmer...
Im afraid that its doing damage, or that it will get to the point where the car won't start.....can anyone rescue me?
thanks
- ash

the regulator or the brushes in the alt sound liek they need replacing

a decent auto store will have a battery tester which when used can tell you what is wrong

You were running off battery power, not the alt. Get a reco'd one. Test the battery volts with the car off, then running. Should be 12.8v and 14.4v approximately.
