Have a look in his gallery, pics are there... A little research always helps. Maybe a mod can delete this f**k posts before he advises the poor bloke to acidentally blow up his car. |

Maybe steady Ed should upgrade his 10mm throttle body to a decent size. the things you do to save some fuel astound me.

Gas cars *always* backfire when the plugs need to be changed .
Or is that... the plugs should be changed a little more often, and your car wont backfire. Hmmm..... I seem to recall the first backfire meaning I needed to drive down to Global |

I bet your wishing you spent the extra bob on a good car instead of the ex cab? 1. Yes it is an EF 2. By and large this has been a good, reliable car. Before it was mine it was my dads, and it's been well maintained. Plus for $3k, i couldnt think of any better options 3. Excab my a***. Infact this is an OPT20 car. The dualfuel was put in when owned by my father 4. Bugger off |

If you use a thesaurus, duel fuel and ex cab are used interchangibly. Its an ex cab, just admit it. id be embarrassed as well but if you want answers you need to tell the right story.

About the changing the plugs thing, i was looking back through the service records and the last service done (11/05/06) included changing the oil filter, air filter, engine fuel filter and sparkplugs. So can i safely rule these out? Also tried to do an ECU diagnostic check but im struggling, see my thread here - http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=34947

You could probably safely rule the plugs out, in which case I'd start with leads.
How old are they? They wouldnt be the original red motorcraft leads? |

They're red, and they say motorcraft, but as it's been serviced at ford since we've owned it they would just replace with the same yes?

They would if there was ever a request to change them, but they are generally an item that doesnt get touched unless they die.
There is no workbook service that includes a lead replacement, so you'd have to say they are original. Piss em off, get some newies, and I'd say your problem will go away. |

Groovy, that sounds like a plan then! Errr...are they hard to do? I'm new to all this service your own car stuff! Any particular brand/model i should get, bearing in mind i'm running dualfuel? |

The Bosch leads you can get from Supercrap are good value. Around the $50 mark for a set, just make sure they are EF ones.
But they are a b**ch to put on, as you will need to get the coilpack out of the car, as its all hidden under the intake manifold. Follow the leads under the manifold with a torch or something and you will see the coilpack, its a black box. You will have to remove the plastic air intake piping and box to get easy access to it. Basically get the coilpack out (4 x 8mm bolts at each corner) swap the leads on the coil pack - each lead and terminal on the coilpack is numbered, so its easy (unless you're EB V8 cos hes an illiterate f**k) - feed the leads back up through the manifold and reattach them to the spark plugs, and your all set and done. |

also, dont sharply bend the leads to fit through an area, take your time cause bending these leads can damage them. Also, when u put the leads onto the spark plugs, they might seem a bit wobbly even when they've been pushed inm this is normal.
