I have a friend who will put on for me but he needs to know what colour leads go to neg and which to positive... Please help... the leads there were approx 6 or so and were grouped together and bolted through the terminals... Please help.... |

pretty sure he meant to take a pic before you dismantle things.... even wreckers do it these days, digi cams these days it's easy enough.
generally.... GENERALLY ..... standing in front of the car the positive is on the right and the neg on the left, and the positive usually has more wires feeding from it. in future, try to take photos of everything before you take it apart so if you have questions, you can refer to these and not us.

unfortunately no one told me to do this and i have never put one in so i assumed a guy would know which is which, i didnt realise it was difficult to know what was what or i would have at least tied them together.

look at the wiring terminals and find the big wire that goes to the block, thats the one that goes to the negative terminal on battery. or find the wire that goes to the starter motor, thats the positive.

My bro in law has done that part but there were more wires.. it doesnt have the standard buzz bar they just go on a bolt through each terminal.. there are a total of 7 wires (i think). |

When you put the battery back in the car you place it in with the battery terminals closest to the radiator filler, that should show the positive (+) RED on the left of you and the (-) Black on the right. The leads that connect to each side of the battery terminals should be the ones placed closest on each side of them. They are usually too short to put on incorrectly.

Hopefully you didn't short something out and cause damage to your ECU or something. Do you know what that wire not connected is from? It does not look like an original lead.

You have the battery the wrong way round. You got the main positive and negative ones on right, but the little ones are probably on the wrong terminal. Expect some damage.
Troyman, slide those covers off and take a pic of which colour wires go to each terminal, this might help him. |

Paula if i had my car available i would take a pic for you. Unfortunately its getting some minor engine work done at my mates house.
But recently i changed my battery and i am positive the little wires are hard to get wrong on the terminals because of their lenghts as said before. Hopefully when Troyman gets online he can give a closer pic for you.
