If i put in extractors and a catback exhaust and keep the original catalytic convertor will my "check engine light" come on in my BF xr6.

why do a whole system just to leave the standard cat?, but to answer your question no, their are other ways of getting around the 2 oxygen sensor issues apart from tuning when fitting a high flow cat.

i've heard that welding of a pipe to the oxygen sensor point (after cat), and then refitting the oxygen sensor at the end of this pipe works. im guessing this is because the oxygen sensor is no longer in the path of fast flowing gasses. but check with some of the other BF owners on here that have done their exhaust with out tuning just in-case im wrong.

You are right winman, this is what I got done on my BF when i got my zorst system. It worked for a good 8 months until i got the engine light on. It would come on and off for days at a time sometimes weeks. I think the only sure fire way is to get it tuned out which i will be doing eventually.

Get a hi flow cat, well worth the extra cash, after all it is an extremely restrictive part of the exhaust

Seen a test done on a Honda Civic, where there was only 5hp at the wheels difference between straight pipe & high flow metallic substrate cat. Even an "emissions safe" magnaflow ceramic cat was only 1hp down on the metallic cat im fitting headers in the near future on my AU V8, and had my eyes set on a pair of Magnaflow "high flow" metallic cats. Then i realized lots of people are making good power on standard ones, or plain ceramic replacements. So now im going to order a pair of magnaflow ceramic cats at only $60 each, will save me heaps, and wont have to worry about the cats failing for the next few years |

Nice, reading the process at the bottom sounds pretty good to me and will work in principal, just want to hope those Platinum, Rhodium and Palladium filters actually filter it enough to still sit within normal exhaust limits

yeh hopefully, i mean what a gay system, it doesnt even change the mixture of the fuel or anything! how difficult is it to rip open the dash and pulling out the globe?
ill do some research and see how it goes, its pretty much the same as your pipe and just shorter wit restricted airflow
