yeah i sprayed it out a few times...
well there was no issue before that with the gears changing etc. lol all else i have done in interior work - nothing engine wise! oh and changed the thermostat - but i dont think that has too much to do with the gears clunking either! anyone?? please??

interior work was putting diff seats in, and putting spilts in. so nothing near the gearbox.
i honestly think i've f**k around with the TPS a bit too much - could/would this be the cause?

Yeah definately wouldn't of been the ISC valve. Probably some other issue else that everyone suggests

Yes, the TPS could be the reason.
TPS has a lot to do with the transmission.

looks like your pulling the TPS back off and checking that it is fitted correctly . this is the most likly cause.
have you ever heard of "if it aint broke dont try and fix it!!" |

yeah i'm about to pull it off and have a look - the more i think about it, the more it makes sense that the TPS is the issue.
and xr8 - yes, i do know, but i wasn't actually trying to fix it - i took it off in order to pull the TB off! so i'm dumb, but not quite that dumb...

Yes, check the TPS, if you put a multimeter to the green and black wires, it needs to read under 1v at idle. Well that's for the V8's, but i'm pretty sure the 6's are the same. I changed the TB on my car, and the TPS was out, and caused all the same problems as you listed.
