I cant tell if thats coolant going by the picture, but if it's green than yeah, probably is leaking from the headgasket, its quite common to leak coolant on the exhaust side of the engine. I would know, mine is leaking along that side too lol, but i don't want to do the headgasket until i have finished porting my spare head. Mines been leaking very slowly for almost a year now and still going strong, coolant level in the reservoir barely moves so im not bothered by it in the slightest
Is it showing any other signs of headgasket failure apart from the leak pictured?? i.e coolant and oil mixed (milky coloured engine oil) etc.. |

We call that a strawberry milkshake, when the oil and red coolant mix and makes its way through to the resevoir. Worst when the transmission fluid does it, auto box's love water... |

No its not showing any signs havent notice anything different in performance ethier, only just noticed the leak today. also just done oil change along with spark plugs/leads and put a au rocker cover on along with new gasket but that doesnt seem to have anything to do with it. anyway whats the worst damage do you reakon i could do if i just leave it for another year? and the coolant is really greasey and thick. thanks for the quick reply and help

it looks like your head gasket is starting to show signs of a future failure..
as long as its not running hot or mixing coolant with the oil it will be ok at the moment.. its just something to keep an eye on unill you can change it... |

What Troyman said ^^^
It will only get worse, or if you're lucky it will get worse but at a slow rate like mine lol. Mine started off as a small leak by cylinder 2, now its started to weep all along the side of the block, but never overheats, and doesnt show any other signs of gasket failure. Its best to watch it like a hawk, check your coolant and oil level regularly just to make sure. |

Personally i wouldn't use the stuff at all, unless of course it's just a temporary measure and you plan on changing the engine later on down the track or something like that. I've heard that chemiweld stuff does work okay for cracked heads and the like but can cause radiator blockages so i'd be careful using that stuff

yeah i would only use it untill ive saved enough cash to fix it properly just so i dont have to keep refilling the coolant if it gets worse.
