Gday guys & gals
This is related to my post "BEM wanted" but thought a better title might get me more help. I recently purchased an EFII Fairlane. The central locking does not work at all and the interior dome light and door lights do not work although the floor and map lights do work. All fuses in the fuse box are ok and dome globe is ok. I have checked all 3 wires at the actuators and there is no power on any of them. I am of the belief that they get constant power and the BEM grounds the appropriate wire to operate the actuator. Where should I check next? I thought maybe should check if power is coming out of BEM? What wires do I look for? If no power is coming from BEM is that likely to be the cause? Do BEM's usually fail? Any suggestions at all? Thanks Tony

Mate if you want to sort this problem yourself, then may i suggest you buy a repair manual for your car, and refer to the wiring diagrams, so you can trace the wires out of the BEM.
Other than that, i would assume also that the BEM would indeed be at fault. Hope this helps you. Andrew.

I believe it could be the BEM . does the engine start and run? This is also controlled by the BEM. I would expect it to work ok or not work at all.

Yes engine starts and runs.
I have found the micro switch on the rear door is faulty which wont be helping but there is no power coming out of the white wire from BEM for the central locking. Assuming i'm testing the right one. According to my manual C3 from the BEM is white and it connects to Yellow on the solenoids which I assume is the positive from what I have read around this site. I wouldn't think this faulty switch would stop all the doors from operating and also the dome light from operating, but I guess stranger things have happened. I have ordered new switch which should arrive Monday. Happy to entertain an more suggestions on what to test and where!

I don't think that switch would ever be the cause. This switch not working will just tell the BEM That door is always shut, even when open. It should still work on the other doors, and even then, this switch is only a neg trigger to say that a door is open anyway. This won't affect the central locking, and the interior lights should still work on the other doors, unless all 4 switches are stuffed which i doubt.
Good luck mate. Andrew.

pull out the BEM and resolder every joint on the board. It's possible that the output transistor is blown.
I have seen a few BEM's on ebay for about $40

That little switch - Door latch monitor switch is $112 from Ford.
Gotta be the biggest rip off I have ever seen. Broke mine open and all it is is a $1 circuit board with two 60 cent resisters and a plunger. I refuse to pay that just on principle. Ill put a door monitor alarm switch on the door and wire it in with two resistors the same. Youd think it would just open and close a circuit but know it changes the resistance value.
